The Large Milkweed Bug (Oncopeltus fasciatus)
Large milkweed bugs come from the U.S. and can be continuously throughout the year to breed. They feed on oily seeds and suck plant juices of herbs and grasses. As the breeding tanks are commercially available plastic terrariums / boxing (5 liters) with cover. To prevent escape of animals through the lid to avoid, you can watch the top about 2 cm with Vaseline or paraffin rake. Doing so may also be a window sealing tape for better sealing of the lid can be used.
When the bugs are feeding shelled sunflower or pumpkin seeds in a petri bowl enough. This facilitates the exchange and purification. There moisture they need about breast-feeding or sucking on plants or through potions. Have proven this young wheat plants or blackberryplants. Individual bugs dead can be remain up to the next cleaning tank respectively. They suck the other animals. Since the bugs tend to drown, it should be no open drinking water dish offered. As a potions are water-filled cans with lids, from which an oil lamp as a wick moisture takes out. This may consist of cotton or similar procure his. Through a hole in the lid, this getting out.
The tank is to clean once a week minimum. They are all dead animals removed and the box thoroughly rinsed, the tread (kitchen crepe) and replaced the lining replaced. The watering should be examined, but usefull for long time. Every 2 weeks, then the approach should be replaced with wheatplants. Due to possible higher humidity in the box, the seeds prematurely moldy and should be replaced immediately. As lighting goes completely out of daylight. The box shouldn't stay in the full sun.
Their small, orange-colored females lay eggs in clumps offered in cotton balls.
The cotton is easy removal with water sprayed to prevent to drying of the eggs. They are separated into smaller containers to hatch the young state. The hatching takes place after about 10 days. The eggs turn into this time from orange to dark red. Comming out bugs should be feeded thereself before supplyed for the frogs. Only in the first 4 stages of development, they are suitable for feeding. After that they are no longer be accepted from the frogs, since it would probably taste herb. The red warning colour is for our offspring no problem, but wild frogs can react differently from there experience of the nature.
The entire development cycle is about a month. Females produce in this period around 2000 eggs. You should always separate new animals , so that the cultured stem not collapse. Breeding is not completely odor free and very economical. As with any other breed but also discipline required.
