Lighting
A lighting of a tanks also serves the simulation of the day / night rhythm, in particular in rooms without daylight. In my opinion the need is more directed to the claims of the cultivated plants, than to those of the frogs. To produce the vitamin D3 of vital importance, frogs also need suitable ultraviolet rays. However, can be renounced by the addition of vitamins with the feed on it completely, without damages or developing problems appear. Also a UV radiotherapy of the tadpoles is very debatable and is not carried out by myself. So that nutrients can be formed, a process which one calls photosynthesis must run off in the sheets of the plant. The same applies to budgetary-customary neon / fluorescent lamps and halogen lamps, her colour temperature is higher with approx. 3,200 Kelvin only slightly. The metabolism with plants is subjected to a cycle which needs a quiescence of from at least 3 to 6 hours between the lighting phase. Light bulbs are exceptionally uneconomical (high power consumption)., the delivered colour temperature also does not correspond to the needs of the plants. Fluorescent lamps exceptionally feel well in her luminosity and correspond in this area absolutely to the daylight lamp, indeed, they generate a lower colour temperature - fluorescent lamps are available in the light colours daylight-white (> in 5000 K), neutral-white (in 4000 K) and warm-white (< in 3300 K). The light colour of fluorescent lamps changes in the course of the time in the yellowish. Thereby originate in colour difference to old and new fluorescent lamps.
Tip:
The lighting should be installed in general beyond the terrarium. For an easy lighting is advisable to lie down a fluorescent lamp on the tank. By the use of UV lamps is to be paid attention to the fact that the ultraviolet rays are filtered by normal window glasses. Therefore, the cover disc either of Perspex or special UV-permeable glass must be used, or the lamp will be laid on the gauze of the ventilation opening. However, with the latter the achievement is clearly diminished. A too strong lighting can lead to higher temperatures in the tank. This should be adapted to the respective kind. Often less is more good.
